Soon to be at Risk of Extinction

By studying the pattern of human development, scientists have been able to identify areas in the world where animals are likely to soon be facing extinction.
These are animals that are not yet on the danger list, but these findings indicate that it is possible that they could overtake those already on the list.
Marcel Cardillo of the Imperial College, London is quoted “We hope conservationists will use our findings to pre-empt future species losses rather than concentrating solely on those species already under threat”
Some of the identified species are North American reindeer, the Musk Ox, the Seychelles Flying Fox and brown Lemur. Areas also include the Amazon and Congo basins, and the sub-polar regions in northern Canada, Russia and Greenland.
