Incense blends for Litha
Here are a number of different incense recipes. With all these recipes the method is to blend together all of the ingredients and burn on charcoal. Enjoy!
COAMHAIN INCENSE
4 parts frankincense
2 parts red sandalwood
1 part heather flowers
1/2 part mint
1/2 calendula
1/2 part fennel
1/2 part angelica
1/2 part St. John’s wort
1/2 part chamomile
FIRE INCENSE
4 parts frankincense
pinch of dragon’s blood
2 parts crushed juniper berries
1/2 St. john’s wort
1/2 part oak wood
1/2 part calendula petals
a few drops rosemary oil
FIRE #2
1/4 part ash leaves
1/4 part bay leaves
1/2 part cloves
2 parts copal
1 part orange peel
Few drops orange oil
1/2 part coriander seeds
1/2 part dragonís blood
4 parts frankincense
1 part galangal
2 parts red sandalwood
1/2 part ginger powder
5 parts crushed juniper berries
1/4 part lime flowers
1 part marigold petals
1/2 part rosemary leaves
MIDSUMMER INCENSE
1 part marigold petals
1 part orange peel
3 parts red sandalwood
ARTHUR [Celtic Sun God]:
1 part apple blossoms
3 parts alder wood
COAMHAIN #2
1/2 part chamomile
1/2 part cinquefoil
1 part lavender flowers
1/2 part mugwort
1 part red rose petals
1/2 part St Johnís wort
1/2 part fennel
3 parts frankincense
Few drops orange oil
APOLLO [Greek and Roman God of the Sun, Poetry and Medicine]:
1/2 part bay laurel leaves
1/2 part peony flowers
2 parts aspen wood
2 parts frankincense
1/2 part cypress needles
1/2 part fennel seeds
2 parts acacia
Few drops bay oil
HELIOS [Greek Sun God]:
1/2 part bay laurel leaves
1/2 part heliotrope (optional)
4 parts frankincense
Few drops cinnamon oil
1/2 part bistort root
AMUN RA [Egyptian Sun God]:
1/2 part olive leaves
1 part cedar wood
Pinch of saffron
1/2 part reed stems
Few drops cedar oil
2 parts frankincense
SUN
2 parts acacia
3 parts frankincense
1/2 part orange peel
1 part myrrh
2 parts red sandalwood
1/2 part rosemary leaves
1/4 part cinnamon powder
1 part benzoin
Few drops cedar oil
Method
Mix the resins together and moisten them with the oil. Allow to set then add the other ingredients, stirring to blend. Burn on charcoal or the bonfire.
